Tarpon Fishing in Boca Grande with Florida’s Best Fishing Guide!

THE SPRING/SUMMER TARPON MIGRATION

Tarpon season runs from the end of March through the summer with peak migration happening between April and June. Boca Grande is wildly considered the Tarpon capital of the world and I am proud to offer trips from April 1st - Sept. 30th for Tarpon fishing! Trips are all the same price regardless of how long we decide to stay out due to the nature of Tarpon fishing and the preparations necessary for a successful trip. I am offering 6 or 12 hour trips for Boca Grade. While we can get a few shots at tarpon in 6 hours, ideally 12 with a lunch break, is enough time to land a silver king! Many factors come into play while fishing for these giants; throwing hooks, breaking hooks in half, line breaks, bad tides etc. To mitigate these issues we will need time to allow for some failures. Should there be a weather event that hinders our trip - we will reschedule or I will refund your deposit.

Boca Grade and Charlotte Harbor provide the best opportunity for you to land your fish of a lifetime! These fish average between 80-130lbs with the biggest of them coming in over 200LBS!!! With the sheer number of tarpon that move through the area, seeing these fish fly and getting one to the boat is our number one priority! Tarpon migrate from the Florida Keys up the coast of Florida, stopping around the “passes” (these are the entrances from intercostal waters or estuaries) to feed on crabs. Tarpon are willing to eat almost anything but their favorite food is a “Pass Crab”. The crabs will flush out of the passes on new and full moons when the tides are the highest and the outflows are the strongest. While there are many passes up the West Coast of Florida - Boca Grande Pass is the best - by far. It is the deepest pass with towering water over 80Ft deep. With both the Peace and Myakka rivers flowing into Charlotte harbor and many many miles of undeveloped coast line - the crab life is prime for these Tarpon to feast heavily. It is estimated that over 5000 Tarpon are landed every Spring in Boca Grande and what better way to catch a fish of a lifetime!!!

Boca Grande is Located Near Venice/Englewood. Hotels are plentiful in the surrounding area, best recommendation would be the Sunseeker Resort in Charlotte Harbor.
